We also
would like to notify players that have not yet been informed that Texas
(Austin area) has sadly lost one of the long-time major
shuffleboard establishments, being Taz Country in Austin/Round Rock,
Texas (closed on October 1, 2005). Many players across the State
of Texas and many vacationers and shuffleboard travelers have
frequented Taz Country often. Many Austinites are understandably
very upset over the closure and wish the prior owners (Gene & Sarah
Criminger) the best in their new endeavors. They will be joining
the players for shuffleboard matches elsewhere!
Most of
the Taz Country regular players are now playing at The Post, Cedar
Park, Texas (North Austin suberb). So, for those traveling or
playing in Austin, you may wish to join players at The Post
which has recently added a 4th board (for those familiar with Taz
Country, it is Taz's prior board #1). The Post hosts weekly
scheduled play on Tuesday evening at 7:30pm & Sunday afternoon at
4:30pm (both $5 HC Single Elimination Draws) and have recently added
(due to Taz Country closure) Friday afternoon $10 warmup
challenges followed by the new weekly $10 HC Open Draw Friday nite
tournament at 8pm (which starts Friday, October 7th). The Post
also sponsors a $20 Single Game/Double Elimination tournament w/
sponsor sale every 3rd Saturday at 3pm (so for the month of
October which has 5 weekends, the 3rd Saturday falls on October
15th). The Post sits on about 3 acres (plenty of parking -- even
room to bring that motor home if you wish!) and has hotels and many
restaurants close by.
